Marion Morgan currently works as a musician first and foremost as a singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist and her musical career spans 30 years. She plays violin, viola, cello, guitar and mandolin and is recognised as one of the group of exceptional female singers and instrumental performers in the current English Folk movement. She works mainly as a performer in three bands. Her performances range from small folk clubs and classrooms to large scale music festivals; she has also toured across Europe. She teaches violin and viola at King Edward VI School, Stratford and set up Stratford Folk Club as part of her work initiating and producing the Stratford Fringe Festival for four years. She also works as a session musician at recording studios in London and the Midlands.
Marion worked for five years as Events Officer at The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, producing the Stratford Poetry Festival, the Shakespeare on Film Festival, initiating the Singing Shakespeare project and was a member of the planning group for the Shakespeare Birthday Celebrations. She also works as a freelance arts project manager. Her work on many festivals has included digital marketing, fundraising, securing sponsorship, programming, artist liaison and venue management.
Her experience of digital fundraising started with her own project, an album which she crowdfunded, exceeding her target in eight days. Since then, she has advised other independent artists and arts charities on social media, digital marketing and online fundraising. She is also Chair of ‘Escape Arts’, a local arts charity.
