Creativity is at the forefront of everything I do. Whether I am running a high street retail project for designer-makers on behalf of a charity, writing a book or an article about sewing skills, or fronting a series on make-do and mend for BBC Newsnight, I am at my best when I am working in partnership.
Having worked for nearly 20 years as a producer and correspondent for BBC news, I made a shift mid-career to develop my personal passion for craft and design and worked for two years with milliner to the stars, Stephen Jones.
I am at the cutting edge of the do-it-yourself fashion trend and have published two books on this theme: ‘Chic on a Shoestring’ and ‘The Modern Girl’s Guide to Hatmaking’ (both with Kyle Books). In May 2021 I am publishing ‘Sew on the Go’ (Unbound), a new genre-busting travel/craft book based on a series of journeys made in my craft studio on wheels.I run creative workshops in both the UK and abroad and taught millinery for two years at Kensington and Chelsea College.
